Introduction

Black Spiral Dancer by pokketmowse.jpg
"Is there ever really a good or evil? A right and wrong? The side you choose will always be the Good Guys while your foes are Bad Guys. Only the victors of conflict get to write who was just and who was morally mistaken. The soldiers in battle rarely understand the big picture and blindly fight the war they have been taught they should. Nearly all have forgotten the truth, the raw underlying fact, that the state of the current world is built upon. Those that do know have little hope of ever making change for the better in the face of those who do not. In the end, there are no winners. There are no good or bad guys. There is only sadness and loss of all beauty and balance that Could Have Been, lost to the fear and ignorance of those that did not care to listen or think."
― Azoth, Metis Theurge
Metis Black Spiral Dancers Theurge

How many people ever get to choose the circumstances of their birth?
Do you dare to wonder what your role truly is or should be?
Loyalty is only as good as your personal goals.
It is never too late to learn more.
Question your path.
Learn!
Act!

Stereotypes
Shifters
Silver Fangs "Wait, let me get this straight. The Garou have a tribe like this and they call us inbred? Heh!"
Nuwisha "Damned hypocrites and bullies, laughing in the face of toppling balance while standing on knowledge that they blissfully ignore. Ask them about creation and the blame becomes apparent."

From the Player to You

First of all, let me start by saying, in case it really needs to be said, that Black Spiral Dancers are dark, twisted, brutal bastards. In simpler terms, they are involved in some really sick shit. This alone is going to be enough reason for most of you - assuming that there are those reading this that haven't actually been in or plan on being in a scene with Azoth - to turn away, green in the face, disgusted and beside yourself in disbelief as to how anyone could ever enjoy playing creatures that revel in murder, rape, and destruction. There's no denying that these aspects of our world are purely human in nature. Such dark headlines sweep global news on a daily basis on a scale that makes even the most empathic person dull from the constant exposure. These aspects of society are unpleasant and, given some godly chance to make a difference, most of us would snuff it out. But, that's not very realistic.

However, a point that should be made aware is that the Black Spiral Dancers represent the allure of moral freedom combined with the seduction of bestial power. Such dark themes tend to be very appealing to people, in much the same way that humans are drawn in by vampires; there is an undeniable psychological attraction that many find impossible to resist even knowing that the temptation will likely lead to death.

Even better, however, is the fact that the Black Spiral Dancers are the epitome of tragedy amidst an already epic tale of tragedy and despair. The fault of their madness is not their own, nor of the Wyrm, but of the Weaver's influence and manipulation throwing things out of balance. The children of the Wyld, the Gaians, do not see this and instead take on the role of Destruction, not Rebirth and Creation, further throwing everything out of whack. The Dancers know the way to solve the issue, but who is going to help such a lost and dangerous lot? Is the cost of cosmic balance worth the destruction along the way or will it take the end of all to finally make things right?

About Azoth

Azoth, as he claims to be called by the spirits of which he communes with daily, is to the Black Spiral Dancers what the Shadow Lords and Red Talons are to the rest of the Garou. He is a stark contrast to the normal ideal and is, in literary terms, an anti-villain. He is likely one of the most easy to get along with Dancers one might ever encounter, but obvious physical reasons are enough to make such social encounters fail before they even start. Furthermore, so gifted is he that most opposing his faction would more likely strike him down rather than talk. Even so, the fact remains that the Wyrm is seductive in many ways and Azoth's social approachability may be a reflection of that. When one can see a monster but is able to understand that it is not a psychopathic killer or rapist hell-bent on burning the world with brute tactics, how more inviting then would those welcoming open arms be when they learn of his spiritual devotion to the rebalancing of the Triat?

RP Hooks
  • Natural Prophet
    • Azoth has the uncanny ability to 'see' signs, omens, patterns, and portents in all manner of things. He also tends to speak his mind about these signs, especially when they are telling of things to come that results in pain or failure. This isn't due to sadism so much as it simply is the way he works. If you need somebody to see or prophesize events, or even deliver clues to what the future holds, then he may be what you need for your story or tale, even if it's simply to set things in motion.
  • Spirit Affinity
    • Azoth is naturally gifted in dealing with spirits, even for a Theurge, and tends to have eyes and ears in many places. If one needs information of given events or details on past events he might be able to help you out. He tends to be in the know for all manner of things that others would have no way of knowing.
    • Do you play a Fomor possessed by a Bane or are otherwise related or connected to Banes? If so, there will be an unmistakable though hard to explain attraction to Azoth as if he were one of your own. This especially goes for any meetings or social dealings in the Umbra. If he speaks, you'll likely want to listen. But it goes both ways, too.
