Shab-e Chelleh (Midwinter) Festival, Fair and Tourney of Events (OOC DATE TBA, IC DATE on or about 12/21)

The longest and darkest night of the year is a time when friends and family gather together to eat, drink and read poetry until well after midnight. Fruits and nuts are eaten and pomegranates and watermelons are particularly significant. The red color in these fruits symbolizes the crimson hues of dawn and glow of life. Poems are read or recited at various parts of the evening during this festival.

A fair will be held during the day and afternoon where kith and kin can sell and/or trade their wares and services, or demonstrate their arts and crafts on offer.

A torneiement of events will be hosted during the afternoon and evening, with categories for music, dance, and poetic expression among others, in the spirit of celebration of the Longest Night.
