Nazriel was always beautiful. Even Caphriel, so well known for his complete control over his emotions could see this. It wasn't even her body, no. It was her aura. To be around her was the antithesis of Lucifer in many ways. Serene, comforting... Peaceful. When Caphriel entered the room, the light of a million births emanated off of Nazriel. She was of his house, and thus intimately tied to the creation of man.

"Caphriel?" Her voice was like a garden bathed in shadow... Crystalline blossoms reaching for the light, "Sit with me?"

Caphriel could not refuse his Mistress. He swore fealty to her, and in turn, Lucifer. The darkened armor, edged in crimson, creaked, betraying a slight uneasiness in him. Yes, he moved. He never stared at her, no. It didn't speak well of his station, or his task. He wasn't supposed to be hers. Not outside this room, outside this fortress. He was supposed to despise her. To loathe her. But her eyes... Made it so much harder to pretend, "As you command Nazriel." His voice soft, spoken with the will of a thousand souls.

"Lucifer is changing. Can you feel it? The darker his path becomes, the more he loses sight of our goal. I... love him. I do. I am his Princess of Liberation... and yet..." She looks towards him, "Can I confide in you, Caphriel?"

"Always." Caphriel returned with an easy voice.

"He... I mean, humanity. They are not his any more. Not in the same way. They are energy to him, sustenance. I worry the Sin of Cain changed him. I worry..." She reaches out, taking his hand, "I worry we are fighting this war so humanity can be enslaved, perhaps not by mind as God did, but by body.

Her hand was immaculately soft. Caphriel tried so hard not to hold a bit tighter, but his body betrayed him, if not the slightest hint. However, with someone bathed in pure empathy... A single moment can speak an infinite story.

She was on him, lips to his as tears fell from her eyes, "He doesn't understand us, Caphriel... He doesn't understand what we feel when a human is ravaged. He doesn't understand that we cry for their loss. They are /our/ children, Caphriel, not his..." Her lips stole kiss after kiss trying to pull some emotion from the man.

Caphriel took in a deep breath. She was so wonderful, but she was not his. He couldn't betray the Morningstar...

Nazathor was the husk of Nazriel. Why did she take this new name, he wondered? It was so long ago it seems, and yet only a sliver of time that she mourned with him about their lost children. She had changed. Lucifer had changed her. No longer did she cry. No longer did her eyes ask for Caphriel's comfort. No.

"Caphriel..." Her voice as harsh as the darkening fortress fortress she called home, "Stay with me tonight. The war is nearly over, and Lucifer can not comfort me." It was a command more than a question. Her hand was held out...

"I can't... Lucifer has asked me to meet Michael. I am to kill him." His voice soft, distant.

"You will fail, Caphriel."

"I know."

"So stay with me? What is one tyrant punishing you from another?"

"Nazathor..." His voice betrayed him, "Please. You... know that you've changed. We've changed." He takes a step towards the door, "Nazriel was... The beacon of hope for our house. She was the soul of humanity... She was..." He closes his eyes...

"Not good enough for you to kiss..."
