WW2-Storybooks: Vexus bares a strong resemblance to the character Bemos from a set of children's books produced during World War 2 about a friendly gremlin that befriended a b52 crew and would eat German planes and came back to the USA after the war. There was a less popular attempt to restart the series in the 50's during the space race called Bemos goes to space, where the little Gremlin Imp was sent to space with the Apollo mission. in the 80's the book was adapted into an episode of Steven Spielberg Amazing Stories that never aired due to issues with the special effects.
