• Our Mermaids Are Different: Aria is one, and not just a mermaid, but a family ancestress, oathbound to protect her descendants.

• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Aria can take on a human form at will, having nothing at all to do with the traditional "Splash" method of transforming involuntarily when wet.

• Innocent Fanservice Girl: Aria is a mermaid, and they don't exactly make a point of running out to pick up this season's fashionable blouse and latest Jimmy Choo's. She has no nudity taboo, and while she's Genre Savvy enough to know that if she goes out in public, she needs clothes to blend in, she has no problem being completely bare when she's not out.
