+ | "Mmm. I was simply, how do you say, in the neighborhood," Cicada says, lowering their fan. The Hsien clears her throat, a lapse of remembrance crossing her eyes as she tries to recall how courtly intriuge worked from three lifetimes ago when they weren't living inside the body of brain-damaged Japanese girl. She then speaks in a more formal fashion than any one of the crew has heard from her before. "It is custom to enjoy the pleasures of the world before resuming to ones duties as dictated by heaven and I have found Oahu to be pleasing to eye and spirit. But it is good fortune that I have arrived in your court on this day of days, of which you delivered your earlier decree. It seems that soon you will come into contact with more of my people, if I did hear the announcement of your decree correctly and you intend to extend your Concord as far East as Gaum. Many of my people preside those waters: Suijen... Heng Po... and other servants of the Ministry of Water. Japanese... Okinawan... Han Chinese... Filipino... Viet... Hmong..." Her voice trails a bit, given the implication that she could continue on.

+ | '''Timand:''' After some quiet discussion, you get Simion to open up a bit. The only thing that -really- seems to get him going, is Awais. Who, as Clover guessed, he is gushing over. You get the sense that he expected something from Awais, but he won't say what. That's why Simion is here. He doesn't care about taxes or nobles or courtly intrigue. He thought Awais was going to spend time with him because - mmm. Mum's the word.’
+ | |||
+ | Menehiron doesn't seem to get the jist of what Cicada is trying to dish. It is clear some do. Yraltien among them, as his retinue bend in and quietly whisper to him as he contemplates. "Then I am sure Parliament will be more than happy to accept any delegation your Ministry would wish to dispatch." He eyes Roger Almsley, whose legendary Mutton-chops surround a face that gives a polite and neutral nod as if Roger had no clue who Cicada was and had never seen her before. "Of course. Parliament is always willing to accept dignitaries of the varying nations for the efforts of peace. If you would like I will have my assistant present you a copy of the edicts that you may take back with you to your Ministry." Without even asking, a Boggan excuses themselves with a ton of parchment, an inkbottle in a shouldersling and several feathers. A boggan scribe. Oy vey.
+ | |||
+ | "Splendid. It is refreshing to know that even now within the mystery of the world we find fascinating neighbors."

+ | Clover is keeping an eye on Timand from where she sits, and listens to those around her. Hooray for Timand getting farther than she did!
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Erin is trying to listen to what is going on what people might be whispering. So many things to try and pay attention too she is boun to miss something I am sure but she is still trying too.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Wick's gaze flits off towards Cicada and the proceedings - his attention caught when she takes such a formal manner. But the sudden silence from Simion recaptures his attention. And his brows furrow with concern at the pooka's sudden fear. He glances up at Timand and then off to try and find Dame Awais in the crowd. Gazing back over at the pooka, he murmurs gently, "Shouldn't hesitate to speak of the one you care for... the one you love. It's not something meant to be kept inside." Satyrs should know.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Timand ignores the courtyly chitchat, and listens to Simion literally gush about Awais. Frankly this is probably harder on him than listening to the Emo poetry from before, but he bears it with grace. No, just kidding, he's stoic as always, even if he's screaming on the inside. "Uh huh..." He finally says when the Pooka slows down. "Well, she sure is a nice lookin' gal, thats fer sure. Ya doin' anythin' ta win 'er affections?"
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | '''"What?" Simion asks Timand, and then looks to Wick. "Oh. Am I? I mean. Ugh. I wrote her! I told her I would do anything. And then she wrote me back, and told me to come here." He nods. "And then she bailed, and I don't know what I'm waiting for...Oh well! I'm sure it's a surprise. Waiting for me outside." For those who are gauging Simion, it is obvious he is lying. And not pooka-lying either. You get the feeling that he's stringing several truths together to the point that the whole thing is a lie. He's covering something.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Wick smiles at Simion and nods. The Satyr understands. "Mm. Yes. For the one you love... When she writes... We'd do anything, wouldn't we? Die for them. Kill for them. I know." He nods. He can tell it's a lie, clear as crystal, but hiding what truth? He tilts his head, brows furrowing. "You're... still waiting though?" That he's waiting - this much he knows.
+ | |||
+ | A look of concerted confusion crosses Conn's face as he tries to reconsile this decree with the Parliament of Dreams, especially as it would violate at least one of the Treaties the Parliament have with the Merfolk. But stranger things have happened, he makes mental note to figure out the bill's weighting as many bills come before the Parliament before floundering in the halls of impotence that the Parliament has become since HKD's departure.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Timand glances over towards Wick, then gives him a nod of agreement as he idly picks some more fruit out of his drink mug. Squinting at a piece of pineapple, he sniffs it, then tosses it into his mouth and starts to macerate it. "I jus' hope ya ain't gettin' played. Those nobles love ta do that sorta shit, face onna us off against another ta make them stay in charge. But naah, she seems like a good one, wouldn't do that shit. No loyalty tests fer 'er, right?"
+ |
| ||

+ | "Fascinating indeed," Cicada says with a shark toothed smile with a little glance towards Roger. "Fascinating neighbors with their own laws and ways. The Mandates of Heaven and the Immutable Laws of have presided over the Middle Kingdom and the Ministry of Water has presided over the Middle Kingdom's Waters more than ten and thousand years Ten and Ten Thousand. There are very few of my people Understand this Concord... And I suppose none of them would have been aware had fortune not been auspicious enough to bring me to this court today."

+ | '''Conn:''' Getting a look at the Seward Acts is not hard. Roger is more than happy to hand it off (he probably has dozens of copies). The Bill of course is written in droolsome legaleze, that denotes that Concordia takes claim of all land to the "18th parallel" (roughly latitude on a map, which crosses Guam) and any and all lands covered. You notice several amendments to this edict - the first coming from Hibernia, who has land claims that are recognized by a Hibernian delegation. The Mer delegation amended the bill to emphasize what is being claimed - specifically land. Concordia has no claim to the ocean, in the eyes of the Mer, than they did before or since. There is an amendment that allows for "powers of Dream", ie, fae nations, room to negotiate - particularly Australia/New Zeland, Japan, Korea and China (as they have respectable Fae populations). The last amendment yield diplomatic extensions to the Empire of the Firebird, Russia, by House Varich, but doesn't recognize them as the others.
+ | |||
+ | '''Log Amendment:''' delegations, in regards to the Mer and Hibernian 'delegations', are "diplomatic" delegations. They did not vote, however lobbied for amendment inclusion. This was initially unclear during the scene but was sorted through. This log amendment is here for record-keeping.

+ | Erin looks from one person to the next as she looks thoughtful though she really doesn't have anything to add. She is hear to over hear, gather info and then they act right that was the plan right
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Clover remains where she is, her right leg crossed over left and hands resting atop her knee as she leans forward slightly. Ohhh yeah, she's trying her best at listening in on what's going down with Timand, Wick and Simion.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | '''Simion nods to Wick. "I know right?" He nods. Seemingly in full agreement with what Wick is saying. See? Someone understands. When Timand asks if he is getting played Simion furrows his brows. "Noooo. Why would she do that? Awais is awesome. She's cool." He looks down at his hands. "She wouldn't do that." He shakes his head. "Nooo. She shouldn't do that. Not /that/. Noo. I helped her. She even helped me help her. And She's awesome-sauce, with sweet tomato. On pasta. mmm. Pasta." He says. "She wouldn't do that." Nope nope nope.
+ | |||
+ | '''"Of course." Roger says with a polite smile, with cute dimples accompanying his Mutton Chops. Menehiron, however, seems to have other ideas. "I will entrust Representative Almsley with arming you with anything you request from our Parliament of Dreams." He nods. Huzzah! Issue at rest. "Was there anything else you wished to speak of?"
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Wick nods, placing a gnetle hand at Simion's shoulder for a moment. "Of course, she isn't. No. Your love is pure. It's clear. Something meant for songs... The service you must have rendered... But then... for someone like her... only the greatest of acts could be worthy... yes?"
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Timand glances significantly at Wick, then back to Simion. He says a little bit more gently, well, about as gentle as a chainsaw, but what is he going to do. "What did ya help 'er with?"
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | "I wish to know... if his Emmenence does indeed wish to Enforce the Laws of Concordia over territory presently claimed within the Nihon province and the Yunan the of the Hsien and presently Administered by the Bureaucracy Under Heaven?" Cicada asks with the tilt of her head, looking between Roger and the Governor. "As with the berth of such a decree, it is inevitable."
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | '''Simion looks between Wick and Timand and shrugs. "There was someone bad. Threatening the realm. A Nocker. But I took care of it all by myself just like she asked! And I told her that I would! And then I did. And then she told me to come here, and then she left." He frowns. It is clear he was expecting a heroes welcome. It must be why he is so out of place. A pooka single-handed saving Hawaii should be at the head of the table right? Getting accolades and flowers and women and food. Mostly food. Instead it's business as usual with the woman of the hour up and leaving for what seemed like no reason. Not even so much as hello.
+ | |||
+ | '''Roger replies. The Parliamentary Rep and all. "The Seward Acts allows opportunities for dignitaries of the Powers of Dream the rightful ability to negotiate any and all land disputes in a civil and diplomatic manner. I am sure if the Ministry has issue or pause that remedy is around the corner."
+ | |||
+ | '''"Of course we should." Says Prince Yraltien. "If Parliament has ordained it, let it be so. Winter comes and we must be ready. New balefires await around the corner for all of us to reinvigorate the glamour of the world." He talks as if this is a no brainer.
+ | |||
+ | '''"But what about the fae that already live there?" Says Nualla, the Eshu commoner. "What if they don't like it? They didn't get a chance to-"
+ | |||
+ | '''"The legality and reciprocity of the Seward Acts is not up for debate." Harks Governor Menehiron. "If you have issue, I suggest you take it up with either Representative Neveah, your Parliamentary Ambassador, or the Queen's Representative." He gestures to Menehiron. "This court will not devolve into a fight over the legitimacy of the Parliament of Dreams or it's edicts." Shutting down the conversation before it even begins.
+ |
| ||

+ | Timand looks significantly at Wick after Simion confesses to the murder. Looking back towards the man he lets out a little sigh, and pats the man on the shoulder lightly "Maybe she's gonna surprise ya later, but maybe not. Why don't ya get up when court opens ta us little people an' let the whole room know what ya did, so ya can get yer jus' rewards."

+ | Clover is still watching that trio.. and something must surely have come to light. She's so curious as she glances over what she can see of Timand's expression, and.. yeah. Super nosey. Clover begins to lightly chew at her lower lip, eyes wide as they stare.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Erin is listening and looks between Timand, Simion and Wick she then looks around to see if anyone else is also listening to that little piece of information that isn't just Clover.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Wick catches his lower lip. As horrible as his confession is - it breaks his heart to realize how the pooka was used in the political machinations of the Sidhe. He only just manages to hold it together. Though his eyes shine with a hint of tears. "You did so much for her. But... but... then she left?" The Satyr shakes his head, hugging himself tight. But then with Timand's words, he grows rather still, brow furrowing. He doesn't like the suggestion, caught up in that empathtic pain for the Pooka. "She doesn't deserve love like his..." he murmurs.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Cicada retains a cool posture despite bickering, fanning herself until the storm has past. "Forgive me I only wish to be absolutely clear about the certain implications of the Decree that has been made today. I do see that the," she squints trying to remember the document "Undersea Mer People have been afforded an ammendment as per their deligations as well." She then taps her lower lip with the fan. "Word must be sent to the Ministries, as is proper as well The Yellow Mandarin... The Peacock Mandarin... The Jade Mandarin... The Grey Mandarin... and the White Mandarin as this Act Potentially has consequences to the Provinces over which they Preside."
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | '''Menehiron nods to Cicada. "I shall trust that Almsley shall give you everything you require after Court adjourns. Is there anything else before I open the floor to the commons?" Asking Cicada once more.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Okay, so Clover is wayyyyyy too curious now, and when she sees how Wick has tears in his eyes.. Oh noes. She begins to inch closer to the two, scooting her way over until she's up and squatting slightly in an attempt at moving over behind the three without really standing up. It's real smooth moves there. She settles in so she can hear better, and she looks up at Wick, frowning gently and mouthing 'You ok?' if she should catch his attention.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Cicada purses her lips slightly and tilts her head as if to consider. "Only to know your future hopes between relations of your future neighbors, the relations between your people and mind, so I might ensure your hopes make their way westward.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Menehiron nods. "I only wish for friendly relations between one and all, of course."
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Cicada nods and then bows respectfully to the Governor. She steps away from the speaking floor and then turns to Roger. "Mmmm. I suppose you will be giving me a packet or somesuch to deliver?" Her tone incurs that she has no intent to take up more of the Governors time. Cicada is chewing the inner side of her cheek thoughtfully.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | '''"Thank you. I wish for nothing but pleasant relations between my realm and others. They are always welcome on the shores of Hawaii. I shall have my Reeve fetch you some gifts to take to your people." Menehiron says.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | ==Sequence Change: Open Court - Commoners==
+ | |||
+ | '''"With that done, I open the floor to-" Menehiron begins.
+ | |||
+ | '''Simeon, at Timand's suggestion, rises before the Governor can finish. "I have something to say!"
+ | |||
+ | '''You can -feel- the exasperation as the Pooka has something to say. "Of -course-." Says Menehiron. "What is the issue?"
+ | |||
+ | '''Simeon, then tells his tale. A nice little love ballad, starting with a letter, to the Dame Awais. He even got a return letter! But was Goblin Parchment, cuz Awais is important, and it would weird to keep letters from a Pooka. Dont you know what letters are made from? Anyway. He single-handedly saved Hawaii from a righteous villain, someone who was plotting it's doom from the very beginning. The list of grievances he cites is massive, from sedition to assassination of the Baron, the Prince and Menehiron. Of creating chaos and anarchy. But he was awesome, and epic, and single-handedly took the strongest ship Hawaii had to offer, the Shadowfyre, and brought down the villain when they least expected it! But when he came back, and wrote that he did, she STILL acts like she doesn't receive his letters the few times he has crossed paths with her. But she told him to come! And here he is, and she left! And he is HEARTBROKEN, because he did this awesome thing! And if she denies him his heart she won't deny him his glory.
+ | |||
+ | '''The court is stunned. Because 1) They have no clue what he is talking about and 2) They half don't believe him. So naturally, when Menehiron asks with a very puzzled look just WHO was plotting the destruction of everyone in the Court? And he names Ronnie, the entire Court falls apart.
+ | |||
+ | '''"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!" Shouts Prince Yraltien. "The pirates and the Invictus and the dead are on YOUR SHOULDERS, POOKA!"
+ | |||
+ | '''"Simion! What have you done??" Nualla looks like she is about to cry.
+ | |||
+ | '''"Goggen Ironfoot was pacified! We had no more danger from him from a butterly collecting pollen!" Shouts another Noble.
+ | |||
+ | '''"Guards! Seize him!" Shouts Menehiron. And the Court devolves into madness....
+ | |||
+ | '''Time passes... | ||
+ | |||
+ | '''By the time Court resumes, several things have happened. A very confused and very traumatized Simion has been taken prisoner by the Governor's guards. Another group of guards have been dispatched to Maui to detain Dame Awais for questioning. Upon interrogation from the gardens to wherever he went, Simion has no evidence. All the letters Awais sent were Goblin Parchment, cuz paper is made from zombies. Prince Yraltien confirmed that the Shadowfyre was reported missing by his retinue the day Ronnie was shot down. At Prince Yraltien's request, letters were dispatched to Baron Lennidd formally summoning him to court to answer for Dame Awais's actions and his knowledge of them. The Commoners, meanwhile, are flabberghasted. They can't believe it, though some can. While people speak to the Pooka's obvious hard-on for Dame Awais, everyone else points to his extreme naivete. He probably didn't have a clue who Ronnie was, considering Simion never appeared at Court, nor paid any care to what was going on. Innocent, but a perfect patsy.
+ | |||
+ | '''By the time the ruckus is over the Privateers have congregated near the entrance to the gardens. It is clear, obviously, that both the Protocol keeping the Court intact has dissolved and the rancor has derailed what was expected to be a rather dull Commoner open session. Instead it is merely a swift call of adjournment, as the Privateers are left to their own devices.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Wick catches Clover's silent question and shakes his head, dropping his gaze as he hugs himself tight. Heartbroken for the Pooka's sake. He can't bear to listen to the love ballad he tells, but he can't hide from it. In the aftermath, the Satyr is just barely holding it together. But as he catches something from amidst the commoners - innocent - he turns towards it. "Is there... is there anything that can be done? You're right... he was... he just loved the wrong person... naive... thought he was... is there anything we can do?" He looks from the commoners to Conn. And then to Tabin their captain, desperate.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | After everything that just went down, Clover's cheeks are left a bit puffy due to how she started crying upon learning what happened. What a horrible thing for that woman to do! Play upon the feelings of the Pooka. How awful! It's left her in a bummed-out state, where she waits with the others, arms lightly crossed beneath her chest as she stares out into the gardens.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Cicada looks over at the chaos that ensues, skillfully popping open her fan again to hide her smirk. "Not my monkey. Not my circus." She was keen to observe how rage twisted Prince Yraltien's face when he shouted. It was moments like these that made Cicada miss attending Court.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Timand gives Wick a little shrug, and he says with typical blunt honesty "He murdered someone's wife. He put 'is own love above someone else. Murdered an innocent nocker so 'e coul win someone's affections. Sorry, but I ain't gonna shed no tears fer that guy." He looks to Tabin and says "So this fufills our contract, eh? We took care of th' Invictus? Its gonna stop raidin now cuz his wife was avenged, right?"
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Erin blinks and looks around and bites her lip a bit but doesn't say anything justice has been done.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Tabin, the captain, has been in the back the whole time, occupying the opposite hedge as Judge the Sluagh. The Eshu captain merely trying to keep track of the whole dizzying runamaloo that is Sidhe Fae Court. When Wick asks if there is anything to be done, he shrugs. "Dunno, man. I mean, you could argue he was hoodwinked...but given who he did it to? And the price of it? I mean you heard 'em. The Invictus wouldn't have started up without him." He gestures to Timand. "Timand's right. We fulfilled the pledge to Goggen. We found out who did it, and they'll probably not let him off easy. If at all. If the rep is true Goggen will keep his word and the Invictus is history. If there's anyone who could give that Pooka penance? It's Goggen, not us, and especially not Menehiron." He says, adding quickly. "Politefully speaking." To keep from getting called on disrespect.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Timand lets out a bit of a grunt and a nod towards Tabin "So we ain't got no reason ta rush 'ome, right? We can spend a few nights here gettin' in some Rest and relaxaion', right? I figgure we are gonna get paid pretty nicely fer takin care of this, might as well spend a bit o' dross on drinks." He glances over towards Naulla and says "I figure us gettin' loaded at Fairytales t'night seems appropriate. Who wants a drink." He glances towards Jude and gives her a nod of appreciation.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Wick looks from Timand to Tabin and gives a small nod. "I know. I do. It's awful. But... but it was /her/ that broke so many hearts. He was just... just naive. He..." No doubt Conn might gently intercede. And the Satyr quiets, turning to him. And he makes no further protests. Though it's unlikely he'll forget the unfortunate Pooka any time soon.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Cicada drifts through the room airily, just observing the chaos. When she passes by Tabin and Wick she turns towards them. "Mmm. It would be justice if Goggen were to decide the Monkey's punishment. His Lady? She'll probably get off easier than him simply because she's greater in station." She seems to regard that this wasn't fair at all with a shrug. "Hey Sencho... I need to talk to you about taking a detour..."
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Erin looks around "you want to stay for drink?" she makes a slight face as she seems to be ready to leave.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Tabin shrugs. "I know." He tells Wick. He gets it. Simion obviously got the cosmic short end of the stick, but what is left unsaid is 'He pined for a Sidhe'. Only two ways that goes. Heartbreak, or intrigue-y murder-death. When Cicada asks about a detour he arches a brow. "You people and your detours! Fine. We'll talk about it over drinks. I know this Court was like a few hours but I feel like I've been here for like a month and a week." He says.
+ |
| ||
+ | |||
+ | Nualla, at Timand's suggestion, gives a nod. "Oh! Right. I'll ugh..I'll send word ahead." It is obvious Nualla has some motherly tending to do, being the Uber Commoner here, but letting them know that the bar is open for them to relax.
+ |
| ||

+ | '''The crew of the Journeyman make for Fairytales, to indulge in drink prior to their departure back to Prospect. It had been a emotion-filled evening, with many of the Privateers feeling sadness, sorrow and anger at the obvious play on the Pooka Simion, while others questioned the legality and veracity of the Seward Acts. With their task complete, the Privateers enjoy a much needed rest. They will need it.'''

Recap
LAST TIME! ON PRIVATEER!
Court was in full swing. The revelation of the Seward Acts caused a stir among several groups that the Privateers could exploit. For Conn, seated with the Nobles, he learned of the Baron Lenidd keeping tabs on Goggen, to which Conn traded him information - earning an ally in the Court as he gave the Baron information regarding Ronnie's death and the suspicions regarding the Seward Acts. Yraltien, however, remained obfuscated to the Privateers. Erin eavesdropped on the Prince, learning that Yraltien knew ahead of time of the proclamation of the Seward Acts, but lost any other information with the arrival of Wick - trying his best to infatuate the Prince to get information. A tactic that failed to provide fruit, the Ailil showing his House's historic ego by humilitation. Clover managed to deduce the compassion of the Baron during Recess - the Baron getting bombarded by the Menehune who were outraged at the proclamation of any and all within the Pacific, up to Guam, must swear fealty to Concordia. While the Baron attempted to placate the crowd, Cicada robbed the Baron of his confidence, forcing the Baron to retire from Court and ultimately causing the departure of the Menehune delegation. Meanwhile, amongst the Commoners, Timand was beginning to zero in on someone through information provided by Jude the Sluagh. After having his patience and wits tested with the Worst Emo Poetry of All Time, Jude slipped that there was one figure Timand should take interest in. Simion, the monkey pooka who had made little to no impact on proceedings thus far. Why? Because the Monkey Pooka seems rather enamoured with Dame Awais, the Fiona Sidhe that is Baron Lennidd's second. Clover tried to pry through the pooka's pooka-ese, and while the pooka spoke madness it was obvious that the Pooka was infatuated with the Sidhe.
However, recess is coming to a close, and with Cicada the only foreign national present, Court would soon be called - and the culprit, escaping into the depths of Hawaii.
Scene
Courtly Sequence - Recess
Conn has stopped eavesdropping at this point, there's only so much you can get away with, even without supernatural powers. Though he does make note of the fact that his keen senses worked and to create a cantrip to hide conversation subjects from people who are empoying the same technique he did.
Wick lingers at Conn's side, cheeks still warm from his failed attempt at catching the interest of the Prince. No doubt for the best. His gaze lingers curiously off towards Simeon and Clover, having caught snippets of their conversation. But as Cicada approaches the governer, Wick glanes up at Conn and then back off towards the beginnings of official proceedings. "We don't have much time left, do we..." he murmurs.
Timand falls quiet as well as things appear to be wrapping up with the break. His head is still spinning from that poetry reading, so what is a good troll suppose to do? Atempt to find a beverage.
With her mind left more confused than anything by the Pooka, Clover gives an awkward little shuffle backwards, then turns so she can retreat back to the safety zone of people she knows! She heads back over to the group and makes her way over to Wick, where she leans over and murmurs, "They don't happen to offer classes in Pooka language at the college, do they?" She grins.
From behind her fan Cicada peers towards the scattered party of Privateers in their seats. Finding herself the only Foreign National remaining. She rises to present herself to the count.
Erin tried not to laugh and give herself away at something she over heard and then shakes her head looking after Wick as he turns to leave. She waits before she can make her sneaky move back to her seat.
Conn continues to try and look nondescript, which for a 7+ foot troll with magically endowed strength isn't easy, but his Scathach training at least makes him not stand out particularly. He nods at Wick, "There's just the matter of Timand's Oath, as best I can tell. Though I've no idea how to help him with that."
There is /plenty/ to drink for Timand to guzzle down. Servers provide everything from wine to straight up booze! In mugs! Even Troll Mugs, which a Boggan has to carry with a full hip-wide apparatus to keep the tray above his head the 2 foot tall wooden mugs.
Governor Menehiron returns to his seat but Recess is still in progress. Everyone begins to migrate toward their respective seats while the fervor of Recess continues. With the departure of Baron Lennidd and Awais, Yraltien smirks as he returns to his seat with his fellow retainers - a smug expression as he crosses a leg over the other. Amongst the Commoners, Jude the Sluagh returns to her perch. Nualla remains center stage amongst the Commoners, murmuring amongst each other about the events of Court as they sit back down. Simion, looking around, realizing that Awais has departed, frowns, looks around at everyone and sulks down into his seat - his look pensive. <Last call for actions before Recess ends>.
Erin returns to her seat and acts like she's totally been there the entire time.
Timand grabs a mug of....something from the bar. No, make that two mugs of something fruity and tropical from the bar with bananas sticking out of it. He wanders around the room, moving slowly in the direction of Simion. Being casual, as much as a troll _can_ be casual, but hey, he's watching the goings on. Sipping his drink. Moving towards Simion with fruit and bananas! And Boozed up fruit and bananas!

Cicada deduces Hsien-Pacific relations | Cicada rolls Int+Changeling Lore + 5 for 3 successes! |
Hsien/Changeling relations in the Pacific is hard to pin down. Specific to Hawaii? They have no formal relations. Hsien are rarely seen outside of Asia, so the only people who have relations with them are camped around there (what Freeholds exist that far anyway). But there is no formal compact between the Hsien and Concordia.
Wick smiles with an empathetic wince as Clover returns to them. "Mm. Yeah... it's hard to follow. Always like a riddle." Then glancing up at Conn, he gives a small nod. "Mm. Me either. But..." He gazes off after Timand as he heads for the monkey pooka. "Maybe he'll have better luck. But... in the meantime..." He hesitates and scans the room in the desperate hope of catching... something.
Simion looks up at Timand who comes over with BANANAS! AND BOOZE. "Hey." Simion says, arching a brow. "You must be really hungry, and thirsty. Can you be both?" He asks of Timand, moving over since it seems like Timand is going to sit down nearby.

Yraltien is smug. Menehiron is oblivious. No nobles of note are acting out of the ordinary. The only person who seems off-put (for some reason) is Simion the Pooka. As if he is expecting something but it hasn't happened yet.
Courtly Sequence - Open Court: Foreign Nationals
Menehiron clears his throat, everyone beginning to take their seats with what food and drinkt hey have still on their person. "Moving on, friends." He looks to the empty gathering of where Foreign Nationals sit, now empty save for Cicada. Menehiron is quiet for a moment before he says. "Any guests of the Realm, be welcome to my Court to speak the business you bring to me and mine this day."
The entire court turns to look at Cicada.
Wick's gaze lingers off at the Prince. Nothing new there. Nor among any of the other nobles. But as his attention returns to Simion the Pooka, he blinks a bit. Puzzled. He says something rather softly to those near him. And then he drifts off after Timand to deliver a brief whisper. Just in time. Court resumes and he stills.
Clover finds her seat and watches after Timand. Bananas. She shoulda known. She gives a narrow-gaze tsk, shakes her head, then grins as she turns her attention upon Cicada.
Conn can't do much here but wait on Timand's play and try to shield him from any Courtly bullshit as best as his limited Title allows, he nods at something Wick has to say but doesn't really know how to proceed, leaning in to whisper a reply.
Timand plops down near Simion, adopting a rather bored expression on his face. He glances over towards the Pooka and gives a little non committal shrug "Yeah, I guess I am kinda. This stuff is real fruity, a bit too fruity fer me but..." He shrugs "Whatcha gonna do, ya know?" He dips from his mug, then raises the other one in the general direction of Simion, in a casual 'ya want it', sort of gesture.
Erin turns to look at Cicada as she leans back as she turns to watch. She tries to keep her ears open to any of the chatter going around them.
Simion looks at Timand, giving him an up and down, and then lets out a breath. "Yea-kay." He accepts the offer from Timand. Might as well if it's offered. "It's true. A lot of fruits here in Hawaii. Like coconuts. And cows. and Tukans. Like Fruit Loops." He settles in, looking around, and then back forward.
Conn can't help but think aloud "Huh... Maggy might actually have come in handy with this guy, welp someone's gotta watch the boat."
Cicada rises from her seat and moves forward more toward the center . She clears her throat and presents herself, straining just a little to remember their titles. "Kamuii Danshaku-Cicada of the Fumetsu no Shakai, Suijen of the Most Noble Ministry of Water for One Thousand Births and One Thousand Deaths, Honored in Yomotsu Hirasaka and Kasuga-taisha, Master of the Water's Great Mysteries presents themselves before the Governor." Once their introduction they bow in the dignified custom common in the courts of the Hsien.
Timand does his best to ignore the courtly bullshit, even though Cicada's speech is impressive. He idly picks a fruit bit out of his mug, then glances towards Simone "They ain't got this stuff where I come from...what do yta call this thingy?" He says quietly, holding up a bit of papaya. "This is me first time to th' islands. Nice so far, though ya all seem a bit upset about some new tax or somethin', any idea what thats all about?"
Erin can't help but smile over to Timand as he seems to be enjoying the food. She looks around taking the faces of each person just being quiet.. Gah does she ever do anything honestly so quiet and nosy.
"Cactus." Simion says with a smile to Timand when he holds up the Papaya. At the question of taxes he shrugs, looking this way and that. Not seeing what interests him, he looks back to Timand. "New Taxes? I don't really use the Atoll, so I don't mind it at all. Others do though. Cuz they go adventuring and stuff." He says. "And Dross is Dross? Hard to come by? So it's supppper expensive?" He is making a guess here.
Menehiron listens to the entire introduction. It is clear to the Privateers, Cicada included, that no one really understands what the hell Cicada is talking about. Hsien, even in the Pacific, are a rare breed this far west. Menehiron, ever the proper Governor, does not miss a beat. "Welcome to Oahu, Danshaku Cicada. Are you visiting these lands, or has the Ministry dispatched you with import?"

"Mmm.
Timand: After some quiet discussion, you get Simion to open up a bit.
Menehiron doesn't seem to get the jist of what Cicada is trying to dish. Oy vey.
"Splendid. It is refreshing to know that even now within the mystery of the world we find fascinating neighbors."
Clover is keeping an eye on Timand from where she sits, and listens to those around her. Hooray for Timand getting farther than she did!
Erin is trying to listen to what is going on what people might be whispering. So many things to try and pay attention too she is boun to miss something I am sure but she is still trying too.
Wick's gaze flits off towards Cicada and the proceedings - his attention caught when she takes such a formal manner.
Timand ignores the courtyly chitchat, and listens to Simion literally gush about Awais.
"What?" Simion asks Timand, and then looks to Wick. "Oh. Am I? I mean.
Wick smiles at Simion and nods.
A look of concerted confusion crosses Conn's face as he tries to reconsile this decree with the Parliament of Dreams, especially as it would violate at least one of the Treaties the Parliament have with the Merfolk. But stranger things have happened, he makes mental note to figure out the bill's weighting as many bills come before the Parliament before floundering in the halls of impotence that the Parliament has become since HKD's departure.
Timand glances over towards Wick, then gives him a nod of agreement as he idly picks some more fruit out of his drink mug.
"Fascinating indeed," Cicada says with a shark toothed smile with a little glance towards Roger.
Conn: Getting a look at the Seward Acts is not hard.
Log Amendment: delegations, in regards to the Mer and Hibernian 'delegations', are "diplomatic" delegations. They did not vote, however lobbied for amendment inclusion. This was initially unclear during the scene but was sorted through. This log amendment is here for record-keeping.
Erin looks from one person to the next as she looks thoughtful though she really doesn't have anything to add. She is hear to over hear, gather info and then they act right that was the plan right
Clover remains where she is, her right leg crossed over left and hands resting atop her knee as she leans forward slightly. Ohhh yeah, she's trying her best at listening in on what's going down with Timand, Wick and Simion.
Simion nods to Wick.
"Of course." Roger says with a polite smile, with cute dimples accompanying his Mutton Chops. Menehiron, however, seems to have other ideas. "I will entrust Representative Almsley with arming you with anything you request from our Parliament of Dreams." He nods. Huzzah! Issue at rest. "Was there anything else you wished to speak of?"
Wick nods, placing a gnetle hand at Simion's shoulder for a moment. "Of course, she isn't. No. Your love is pure. It's clear. Something meant for songs... The service you must have rendered... But then... for someone like her... only the greatest of acts could be worthy... yes?"
Timand glances significantly at Wick, then back to Simion. He says a little bit more gently, well, about as gentle as a chainsaw, but what is he going to do. "What did ya help 'er with?"
"I wish to know... if his Emmenence does indeed wish to Enforce the Laws of Concordia over territory presently claimed within the Nihon province and the Yunan the of the Hsien and presently Administered by the Bureaucracy Under Heaven?" Cicada asks with the tilt of her head, looking between Roger and the Governor. "As with the berth of such a decree, it is inevitable."
Simion looks between Wick and Timand and shrugs.
Roger replies. The Parliamentary Rep and all. "The Seward Acts allows opportunities for dignitaries of the Powers of Dream the rightful ability to negotiate any and all land disputes in a civil and diplomatic manner. I am sure if the Ministry has issue or pause that remedy is around the corner."
"Of course we should." Says Prince Yraltien. "If Parliament has ordained it, let it be so. Winter comes and we must be ready. New balefires await around the corner for all of us to reinvigorate the glamour of the world." He talks as if this is a no brainer.
"But what about the fae that already live there?" Says Nualla, the Eshu commoner. "What if they don't like it? They didn't get a chance to-"
"The legality and reciprocity of the Seward Acts is not up for debate." Harks Governor Menehiron.
Timand looks significantly at Wick after Simion confesses to the murder. Looking back towards the man he lets out a little sigh, and pats the man on the shoulder lightly "Maybe she's gonna surprise ya later, but maybe not. Why don't ya get up when court opens ta us little people an' let the whole room know what ya did, so ya can get yer jus' rewards."

Clover is still watching that trio.. and something must surely have come to light. She's so curious as she glances over what she can see of Timand's expression, and.. yeah. Super nosey. Clover begins to lightly chew at her lower lip, eyes wide as they stare.
Erin is listening and looks between Timand, Simion and Wick she then looks around to see if anyone else is also listening to that little piece of information that isn't just Clover.
Wick catches his lower lip.
Cicada retains a cool posture despite bickering, fanning herself until the storm has past.
Menehiron nods to Cicada. "I shall trust that Almsley shall give you everything you require after Court adjourns. Is there anything else before I open the floor to the commons?" Asking Cicada once more.
Okay, so Clover is wayyyyyy too curious now, and when she sees how Wick has tears in his eyes..
Cicada purses her lips slightly and tilts her head as if to consider. "Only to know your future hopes between relations of your future neighbors, the relations between your people and mind, so I might ensure your hopes make their way westward.
Menehiron nods. "I only wish for friendly relations between one and all, of course."
Cicada nods and then bows respectfully to the Governor. She steps away from the speaking floor and then turns to Roger. "Mmmm. I suppose you will be giving me a packet or somesuch to deliver?" Her tone incurs that she has no intent to take up more of the Governors time. Cicada is chewing the inner side of her cheek thoughtfully.
"Thank you. I wish for nothing but pleasant relations between my realm and others. They are always welcome on the shores of Hawaii. I shall have my Reeve fetch you some gifts to take to your people." Menehiron says.
Sequence Change: Open Court - Commoners
"With that done, I open the floor to-" Menehiron begins.
Simeon, at Timand's suggestion, rises before the Governor can finish. "I have something to say!"
You can -feel- the exasperation as the Pooka has something to say. "Of -course-." Says Menehiron. "What is the issue?"
Simeon, then tells his tale.
The court is stunned. Because 1) They have no clue what he is talking about and 2) They half don't believe him. So naturally, when Menehiron asks with a very puzzled look just WHO was plotting the destruction of everyone in the Court? And he names Ronnie, the entire Court falls apart.
"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!" Shouts Prince Yraltien. "The pirates and the Invictus and the dead are on YOUR SHOULDERS, POOKA!"
"Simion! What have you done??" Nualla looks like she is about to cry.
"Goggen Ironfoot was pacified! We had no more danger from him from a butterly collecting pollen!" Shouts another Noble.
"Guards! Seize him!" Shouts Menehiron. And the Court devolves into madness....
Time passes...
By the time Court resumes, several things have happened.
By the time the ruckus is over the Privateers have congregated near the entrance to the gardens. It is clear, obviously, that both the Protocol keeping the Court intact has dissolved and the rancor has derailed what was expected to be a rather dull Commoner open session. Instead it is merely a swift call of adjournment, as the Privateers are left to their own devices.
Wick catches Clover's silent question and shakes his head, dropping his gaze as he hugs himself tight.
After everything that just went down, Clover's cheeks are left a bit puffy due to how she started crying upon learning what happened. What a horrible thing for that woman to do! Play upon the feelings of the Pooka. How awful! It's left her in a bummed-out state, where she waits with the others, arms lightly crossed beneath her chest as she stares out into the gardens.
Cicada looks over at the chaos that ensues, skillfully popping open her fan again to hide her smirk. "Not my monkey. Not my circus." She was keen to observe how rage twisted Prince Yraltien's face when he shouted. It was moments like these that made Cicada miss attending Court.
Timand gives Wick a little shrug, and he says with typical blunt honesty "He murdered someone's wife.
Erin blinks and looks around and bites her lip a bit but doesn't say anything justice has been done.
Tabin, the captain, has been in the back the whole time, occupying the opposite hedge as Judge the Sluagh.
Timand lets out a bit of a grunt and a nod towards Tabin "So we ain't got no reason ta rush 'ome, right? We can spend a few nights here gettin' in some Rest and relaxaion', right? I figgure we are gonna get paid pretty nicely fer takin care of this, might as well spend a bit o' dross on drinks." He glances over towards Naulla and says "I figure us gettin' loaded at Fairytales t'night seems appropriate. Who wants a drink." He glances towards Jude and gives her a nod of appreciation.
Wick looks from Timand to Tabin and gives a small nod. "I know. I do. It's awful. But... but it was /her/ that broke so many hearts. He was just... just naive. He..." No doubt Conn might gently intercede. And the Satyr quiets, turning to him. And he makes no further protests. Though it's unlikely he'll forget the unfortunate Pooka any time soon.
Cicada drifts through the room airily, just observing the chaos.
Erin looks around "you want to stay for drink?" she makes a slight face as she seems to be ready to leave.
Tabin shrugs.
Nualla, at Timand's suggestion, gives a nod. "Oh! Right. I'll ugh..I'll send word ahead." It is obvious Nualla has some motherly tending to do, being the Uber Commoner here, but letting them know that the bar is open for them to relax.
The crew of the Journeyman make for Fairytales, to indulge in drink prior to their departure back to Prospect. It had been a emotion-filled evening, with many of the Privateers feeling sadness, sorrow and anger at the obvious play on the Pooka Simion, while others questioned the legality and veracity of the Seward Acts. With their task complete, the Privateers enjoy a much needed rest. They will need it.
