In Denise's culture, she is expected to get married at age 16, 20 at the latest. After that time, if her family has not been able to arrange her, then the community will think there is something wrong with her, or her family. When her visions began at 16, and she could not stop telling and warning people about them, her family could not find any family willing to arrange her. While Denise was relieved to not be arranged to some boy she barely knew and would be forced to leave her family and join theirs, she knew that nothing would be the same.

While in Prospect, Denise plans to find a way to make some money through her jewelry making. Beyond that, she wants to get to know others with real psychic abilities so maybe she can figure out these visions and learn to control them. Maybe even understand why she got a message from herself.
