Potato Mush Spawns work a bit like tabbed browsing. People seem not to use this feature, which is fine, your mileage may vary. But as someone on the spectrum, I have found it basically invaluable. In order to set up spawns, you go to Options -> Configure Events. What you call the event is largely irrelevent, I use the text that the Event tests for as the name of the event in almost all cases.
So, if you want a spawn for all OOC chatter, the form is <OOC>*
To break that down. What you've told PotatoMush to do there is send any line starting in <OOC> to a spawn called OOC. You've asked it not to include it in logs and not to flash at you when it's done (I prefer it to flash, but again, YMMV)
This is the file I use for CoH. In the folder that you have Potato Mush installed, there is a folder called Worlds. Put that file there, and when you boot up potato mush you should see WoD Mush (I know not very imaginative on my part). That has spawns for OOC, pub, deb, new, rules, pages, misc, and leaves the main window mostly clear for just gaming.
There are some limitations to spawns in Potato Mush. It's run by the line, not by the message. So if someone sends you a paged message with %r in it, everything after the first line will appear in the main screen. I am sure there is some way to fix this. I just haven't figured out what it is.
