Doctor Veronica Varona was assigned to Doctor Voigt and Doctor Kampff to aid in the retrieval of some lost property, allegedly belonging to the Cybernaut Doctor Eugene Parks. A bioroid by the name of Kiki had escaped the confines of his laboratory with the help of some Progressivists within the Society. His colleague, Doctor Melvin Stark, was killed in the explosion. The bioroid could easily rival that of Eva, the creation of Cybernaut Emile Rotwang. Unfortunately, in the process of trying to apprehend the bioroid, Kiki was destroyed. Doctor Varona opted to stay in Prospect, just in case the destruction of the bioroid was a ruse. Doctor Voigt and Doctor Kampff appreciated her insight, and allowed for her to stay - after turning in documentation and reports of the attempted recovery.

As a member of the Cybernetic Research Institute, aka Cybernauts, Doctor Varona is trying to make a name for herself with the Robotics Group based out of Tokyo. Her projects fall into one of three categories: Brain, Brawn, or Blam.

  • Brain: neural prosthetics that accept neural impulses from the brain and controls either myoelectric prosthetics (robotics) or living tissue that has suffered nerve damage through spinal cord injuries or stroke.
  • Brawn: the concept of Eva the bioroid is quite fascinating, but all things cyborg can draw interest. Lieutenant Commander Data from Star Trek. Cameron from the Sarah Connors Chronicles. Alita from Alita: Battle Angel. Rachel from Blade Runner. Ava from Ex Machina.
  • Blam : self-sustaining arc reactors that can power all of these systems indefinitely in a relatively clean manner, and could feed energies to secondary systems such as bio-enhancements and defense mechanisms.
