Old Hangar - Grounds
A winding, narrow paved road leads two miles back from the state highway through low chaparral and several stands of pine trees to a broad clearing. This clearing gives way to a paved tarmac with a runway that looks like it hasn't been used for flights in many years. Squatting on the west side of the tarmac is a mid-sized World War II blister hangar that has been recently fit with large solar panels. There also appears to be evaporative cooling units with recirculating water tanks. On the south side of the hangar there is a long greenhouse used for growing vegetable crops.
On the west side of the hangar, hidden from the view by a wide swath of pine trees, is a circle of tamped earth roughly thirty feet in diameter with a few log benches pulled up near the outside edges. A couple of hammocks are hung in among the trees around this clearing behind the benches. On the north west of that space is a stone bonfire pit, carefully cleared of all potentially flammable scrub.
It is now currently Tue Jun 04 19:21:41 2019, PDT.
---
People are invited out to the Hangar where Lleu and Faith live - and soon a baby later in the year! There is some construction going on inside to add an interior second floor where a very high ceiling now dominates. Outside things are about the same as usual. Faith's Prospect Police Department car is not currently here so she's likely at work.
As for Lleu, he's got a small cook fire going in the stone fire caern nestled back in the pine woods. A couple of hammocks are hung, a cooler of beer is open and the smell of wonderful cooking meat mingles upon the air as the steaks are sizzling on the metal rack laid over the low smoldering coals.
The offer of food is a sure-fire way of getting Cait to show up! With bells on no less. She'll come bouncing into the area and looks around as she follows the scent of cooking meat. There's a pause as she takes a moment to appreciate that scent before she'll come striding into the back area where Lleu appears to be cooking. Giving a broad grin, she'll lift a hand in a wave as she approaches, "Hey!", she'll offer, long before she's too close so that he's definitely aware of her approaching his territory. In her other hand, she appears to be holding two 24-packs of beer with her fingers, "I brought some drinks in case you needed some.... "
Ryla arrives at the appointed time, bringing with her some of the gooey chocolate cake from Smoke and Barley. "Good Evening! I stopped by Smoke on the way here and brought some dessert!" Because who does not like chocolate cake? She has seem Journey eat it many times, and figures, it will get devoured.
Waziyata often prowls the woods in this area now, stalking prey and any threats that might be about, staying somewhat true to her lupine roots. Tonight, she stalks the woman with the forty-eight beers. She made no secret of herself once Cait was on claimed turf, but also showed no more open hostility than to hang back in the shadows, a pale, glimpsed shadow. Cait's expected, but still unknown to Wazi.
Now that the woman is approaching Lleutrim and the fire, the white wolf emerges into the clearing around the caern fire, tail wagging slow and lazy as she moves in a wide semi-circle around the woman to stand beside the Galliard. He is snuffled and given silent, wolfish greeting before she turns her gaze curiously to Cait, ears perking up, tail continuing to wag slowly.
Dragomir is probably sensed approaching before he actually arrives, like Godzilla sighting or something. The man comes towards the hangar, taking a moment to look around. He is wearing a striking light grey suit, with a white thin linen shirt, nearly transparent. A pair of soft brown shoes, hand-stitched and is walking towards the edge of the grounds. He stops, and calls out, "May I?" it seems the respect of territory is still important to him, in many ways.
Lleutrim stands up from the fire wearing a Gross Point Blank T-shirt with jeans. He is otherwise bare foot and without his leather jacket. The Galliard smiles as Cait and then Ryla arrive first, "Fantastic, both of you. We can always use more booze and well, chocolate cake takes the cake!" There is the picnic table off to the side all ready to lay out food on. A stack of dishes and other utensils are on one end. Lleu looks back to the steaks that have only just started cooking and he turns them over. Mesquite wood chips soaked in water are heaped on the coals to throw up plenty of smoke to flavour the steaks. So far the heat is kept very low so he can keep them fairly rare if wanted or shift them over to cook faster if anyone wants theirs more medium.
A warm smile is had for Wazi when she arrives. Lleu puts out a hand to skim his fingers through her wonderful silvery fur, "It is good to see you, my friend. Now all we need is Dragomir. Then you may meet my pack, Cait. Introductions will be in order, but first I need to know how everyone wants their steaks."
Ah hah! And there he is now! Lleu turns his head and raises his baritone to carry, "Please do! Come and join us!" And as the Elder Silver Fang arrives to do just that, the Fianna adds more quietly, "Eye of the Storm'rhya. So good to have you all here."
Cait's dark, near black eyes, watch Wazi curiously, but as there is no aggressiveness, and this is a gathering, she'll remain relaxed and polite. She may be a Bone Gnawer, but she does know how to be respectful, when she feels it's warranted. Nodding to Lleu, she'll turn and walk over to put the two cases of beer on it with a bright grin. "Thanks for inviting me... it smells delicious! Oh, and rare... bloody even!" Giving a wink, she'll turn to look towards Wazi curiously, "hey there, good to meet you. Since we haven't met before. I'm Cait. Cliath full moon, born as a homid, and Bone Gnawer tribe..." She doesn't sound like she has a chip on her shoulder, matter of fact, she sounds rather as if she's proud of her tribe. As Dragomir calls out, she'll turn to look in that direction, and then waits silently, although she does grab a beer she brought, opening the case and pulling one out. They're apparently from the fridge, because theyr'e cold.
The white wolf's tail continues its slow wagging, not shying back from Lleu's touch to her fur or Cait's curious gaze, instead returning the curiosity. At the introduction, Waziyata tilts her head a little to one side, then shifts her weight a little, before Dragomir's arrival gains her attention. The wolf is grinning immediately, tail wagging more wildly a moment, as though she were an excited puppy. She frisks a little, moving over to greet him in turn, brushing in a familiar way against Ryla as she passes the woman.
After all of this is done, Waziyata turns back to Cait, growing suddenly into a scarred, young teenage blonde with a lopsided grin. "I am Waziyata Puddle Jumper," she informs the woman, "Adren, Ahroun, Wyld Touched, many many other things I could say, too. One of Legend's Guardians, chosen by Eagle." A pause there, before she adds a question in a plain, curious voice: "Are you rited Cait, or too human?"
Dragomir walks into the camp, nodding towards Lleutrim and says, "Evening Battle Singer." He lifts his chin in greeting in return. A glance is given towards Ryla, "Hey clubber." With a smile. He walks towards Wazi, reaching out a half-gloved hand and gives the top of her wolf head a good firm ruffling with his knuckles in greeting. A more physical greeting for the lupus born it seems. Cait.. well, that is a different story. He flares his nostrils towards her, and reaches out his other half-gloved hand just as she is starting to take a sip of that beer and snatches it right out of her hand to claim as his own. "Since you don't have a rite name yet.. you won't mind if I take this." He walks by, and finds a place to sit and flops over - despite the suit. He brings the can to his lips and takes a swig from it. Obviously more of a vodka guy, but all the same.
Oh the antics! Lleu's grey eyes take in the various interactions and amusement grows. Particularly when his pack alpha asserts himself as appropriate for an Elder. It's all he can do to keep from smirking, "First of our food and drink is of course to be offered to the highest in rank." Lleu picks up his long handled two-tined fork and uses it to flip the steaks which are searing a little. He checks them, "These aren't bloody blue-rare but they are still pretty close. I'm going to cook mine more medium rare but I can serve up the rest if rare's what you want." One of the steaks is shifted to a cooler spot that still getting plenty of wood chip smoke. That one's for Cait yet he looks to Dragomir and selects the largest, best of the Ribeyes for his pack alpha. It is laid out on a plate, all 24 ozs of 2 in thick dry aged goodness that is huge. A baked potato is added, already smothered with everything, "There's a salad on the table if anyone wants mixed greens with the meal." This plate is taken over and offered to his Elder, "I think you left out your rite name, Cait."
As the others will tell him how they'd like their steaks, Lleu will cook and serve them up according to rank with Wazi next and Cait's last. They should be fantastic.
Ryla grins and gives a chin jut to Dragomir, "And don't you forget it!" She still has some satisfaction from the baseball bat. "It's good to see you again, Ain't Dead Yet." She remembers the name, even if Cait seems to have looked over it in her excitement of having that much beer around.
Eyes widening as Wazi mentions her rite name missing, Cait will slap her forehead with a 'doh' sound. "Gah, man... always forget SOMETHING in these introductions. They're too damn long, thank Gaia I don't have to recite my lineage.." Okay, so yeah, she's totally a Bone Gnawer. "I'm ritenamed Ain't Dead Yet! Good to meet you, PuddleJumper- Rhya? That's your rite name, right?" Yep, we're totally formal here.. she used -rhya-, didn't she?
And then Dragomir just waltzes up and takes her beer and Cait, while looking surprised, can't even look mad at it. She'll smirk though and then says, "JUst let me know when you want another and I'll getcha one... Eye of the storm-rhya.." (sure hope that name is right!) She'll grab another beer and then looks over at Ryla, offering her a broad grin, "Good to see you too, Twilight's Glimmer-rhya, uh, wanna beer?", she'll ask and then offers the beer to Ryla now. She is a baby Cliath, so she's used to getting the food last, sad to say. Sad Cait, she looks with puppy eyes at all the plates being offered to others. Lleu gets the biggest puppy eyes she has.
Wazi stands comfortably in her homid form, physically the youngest present around the fire, she grins widely as she watches Cait's reaction and the claiming of the beer by Dragomir. She snorts, then steps over to Ryla, reaching one hand out for the woman's head and hair in an affectionate rub the Ragabash is likely long used to by now. Then she's addressing Cait again.
"Yes, too human. I was too wolf, months ago." She uses the same sort of tone anyone else would use for 'years' on the word 'months'. "But my sister and pack taught me better. You do not understand why long, silly formal lists of many names you do not recognize are important, right? And every detail of every thing we ever did that we thought was good enough to tell others? My tribe is like that, sometimes - Children of Gaia want to look at what is doing now and tomorrow, more than what was done."
Then there's food on the offering, and she turns her grin on Lleutrim, reaching her free hand to accept the plate from him with a slight nod. "Noise Maker." It's said as if it were his name, in a fond tone.
Dragomir nods towards the plate offered, and motions to take the steak. "Looks good.." then he turns his head and looks back towards Cait once more, "Ain't Dead Yet.. that's right." He recalls, as though he had forgotten or something. A glance is given back towards Wazi and he says, "You should test her out Puddle Jumper.. see if she can handle herself. Would be interesting to see if she's anything like her folks." He takes a swig of that beer, drinking back a good long gulp of it before he turns his head to look towards Ryla, "We should talk about what we found at the Wyrm Gym."
Drago snorts at the idea of not using rite names, "We can be less formal now.. we got it out of the way. Though one should never forget their rite name in an introduction." He grins feral at Cait, and takes another drag of the beer claimed.
Ryla gets her plate from Lleu, "Thank you kindly." She does take the offered beer, and then her eyes go back to Dragomir when he looks at her and speaks. "Yes, we should talk about it and where to go next with that." Her brow raises when he speaks of being less formal. Is the Elder Silver Fang ... loosening up? It goes in the back of her mind for what could be an interesting psychiatric evaluation.
Well actually it's Lleu who's going to get the very last steak and that's just because he's the one handing them out /and/ he wants his cooked a bit longer so it's medium rare. Still, all in all, he looks quite satisefied once they are all handed out and he settles himself into one of the fold out director style chairs with a Guinness. Aye, clearly he's fond of Wazi and all his pack. "Eye of the Storm'rhya, I do have a decent bottle of vodka in the cooler when you are ready for it."
Ah, Wyrm Gym. Battle Singer starts cutting up his steak and drizzles rosemary butter over it before he takes his first delicious bite. Savoring it as he listens to the others getting settled. "I'm still going through the Dark Star files. So far most of them are redated. There's things like name, age, physical stats, temperment, place of birth, known associates like employer or school for 24 'candidates'."
A drink of his beer and Lleu looks over to Cait, "We are following up a Gym in the city that's full of Black Spiral Dancers and their kin. The receptionist, a drop dead gorgeous woman was wearing some highly tainted cosmetics. We followed that up to a local Siren Cosmetics office where we ... eh, 'collected' some additional data and items. That is what we are discussing now."
As she is handed a HUGE plate of deliciousness, Cait's puppy dog eyes sparkle and she smiles brightly at Lleu, "You. Are. Awesome. Thanks!" Taking her plate, she'll plop down at one of the tables and begins to tuck into the food. She's a foodie, that's for sure, it's like pure focus and she INHALES it, as if she's afraid Dragomir will finish his too fast and come steal hers. THAT would be an awful shame too, because it's steak. "OMG, this is so good...", she'll say as she stuffs her cheeks like chipmunks. A pause is ensued while she -swallows- and takes a drink of beer while looking up and around. Drago is looked at and his feral grin is greeted with a chipmunk smile from her, yes, poofy cheeks full of food. Pride? No idea what that is right now, there's food. "I'll be careful in the future to try and not forget...", emphasis on the -try-. There's another pause as she listens to Wazi and she'll nod curiously to her, "That's it, because sometimes, what I think is important isn't important to others... it's a different view on things. I guess." Then she's quiet again, especially at the mention of Wyrm Gym, oh, now this looks interesting.
Wazi grimaces at Lleu's explanation, shaking her head slightly even as she makes her own way over to the table, following after Cait and dropping onto the bench seat beside the other Ahroun. Her elbows are planted on either side of her food, clear territoriality of her meal, but the thoughtless sort - like an ex-convict or a wild animal, more than true expectation that Dragomir will take her food.
"Very bad place. Lots of banes, mindwashed one of our kin before he was cleansed. It was trying to be a hell hole, maybe is just that now. I have not gone back to look at it."
Then she's chewing down some of her own food, listening as others talk, eating deliberately but with obvious relish. When Cait finally gets back to her, Wazi blinks and turns to look at the other woman, brow furrowing, angry scar over one eye creasing strangely with the expression. Then she snorts and nods once, "Yes. Like me, when I was young. Waste of words, not important, strange lists of things. I needed to know them, not their grandpa's grandpa."
Dragomir motions his half-gloved thumb towards Cait and says, "That's alright.. Beer Fetcher here is going to get me what I need tonight." It would seem she has earned her first deed name. The man lifts up the steak, with his fingers and takes a good bite from it. Chewing, he somehow manages not to spill a drop onto himself as he listens. "So it seems they are tainting cosmetics to do what?.. attract banes to people who wear them?"
"We do have the challenge, that they know what we look like now." A glance of those intense blue eyes of his shift from Wazi, then to Cait as she eats like an engorging chipmunk devouring its last meal. He ponders silently for the moment. Then looks to Ryla, "Were you able to figure anything out in there?" He looks towards Wazi and offers, "Well, when I take the form of my great Elder, Zheleznya Gora on the battle field, and you have to stand beside him. I hope for your sake, you remember all those names I told you."
Ryla takes a seat and begins cutting into her steak, and taking more proper bites because she has had etiquette perhaps beaten into her growing up. Before she takes a bite, she replies, "Yes. The box of cosmetics I grabbed was an 'Entice' box, which contained 6 full "treatment and makeover kits" of their Entice formula Siren Cosmetics. It said it was guaranteed to make you the hottest you've ever seen. I did a cursory check with sense wyrm, and obviously as suspected they are seriously tainted." She takes a bite them, savoring the deliciousness that is MEAT.
Lleutrim smiles at Cait's obvious relish of the food he prepared. He's a pretty good cook too! The Galliard is laying into his meal with purpose himself. The fire smolders and most of the smoke is gone now, the wet woodchips burned up and turned to coals and ash. A brow is arched at Dragomir, "They know what you look like. But the rest of us? I disabled those cameras. It's possible they could use a gift to track you and start watching us. We'll need to guard against banes spying on us when we are away from the Caern."
Wait, what?! There's going to be a test?! Lleu stops eating and looks at Dragomir, "We need to know all those names? Shit. I think you'll need to recite them for us again." His attention goes to Ryla, listening to her findings. Heh, Cait is so adorkable!
Nearly choking on her steak as she's called 'Beer Fetcher', Cait glances at Dragomir and then purposefully looks over at his beer, "Y'need another one?", she'll ask in all seriousness. She's not even remotely tempted to even be upset, actually, she looks rather amused. Looking over at Wazi then, she'll slow down in her eating as more than half has already been consumed and she's not as scared of food being stolen at this point. "Ahh.. yes, that's it exactly." Pause. Then she's staring at Dragomir, "Like -all- the names? You guys go back like ten generations or something..." NOW she looks a bit upset, there's no way she'll remember that, hell, she can barely remember her own lineage. Sighing, she'll tuck into the potato, the salad greens are totally left for last it appears. "Oh... makeup, that's something I can totally see as being tainted, easily so too, because of all the vanity." Then she's just going quiet again and watches Ryla as she talks about it while she takes another sip of her beer. When Lleu seems upset about names too, she looks a little vindicated and smiles. See! It's not just her!
Wazi grins again at Dragomir's comment, turning to look at the man, shifting her weight and snickering quietly into her baked potato. "You never told me them all," she reminds him plainly, "Only that I could ask them. But I will."
Then she's turning her attention toward Ryla and Lleutrim, adding, "Bound with banes to make fomori," before her attention lands on Cait once more. She eyes the other woman a moment, taking and chewing down another bite of steak before she addresses her again: "I understand. I was stupid, too. Who is your family, that you do not honor?"
Dragomir nods more gravely, biting more of the steak - and another, and another. Three bites and he's nearly devoured most of it now. The meat is swallowed down with ease, barely bothering ot chew it. "We need to seek down the source of these cosmetics fast then.. they will corrupt countless people who wear them. Weaponizing humans to their will." He looks towards Lleutrim and offers, "I am not worried about that.. Eagle guards us spiritually.. and I am pretty cautious about that. I would rather they waste their time trying to focus on me." he thumbs towards Cait and says, "But perhaps we can make use of Beer Fetcher there." He motions his hand dismissively, "I recite my ancestor's names all the time.. just listen for once."
He turns his head to look towards Cait and nods for her to fetch him another. He turns to look towards Wazi and says, "She needs to be tested before we take her with us though. We don't need her getting us killed." harsh, but firm.
Ryla listens, eating her food since she needs to finish up her steak to get to that cake! "Yes, and with the psychology that they are employing? It could spread like wildfire. It is an inferno waiting to happen. It is good we are on this case. The sooner we can track down the source of it, and who is behind it, the better." She offers, "Perhaps I can look over the files and see what I can get from them."
Lleutrim has about finished his meal as well and is working on his salad now. Same order as Cait's preference, as well as being on his second Guinness. "Yes, definitely look over the files with me, Ryla. We should all see what we can make of them - and then we need to think about their main corporate office ad it's location. Come up with a plan. We also still don't know precisely how they are linked to the Gym and what role precisely it plays."
A mild sigh escapes her at Wazi's blatant insults and Cait will rise. "I did not say I do not honor my family, but stating my lineage isn't how I would honor them.", she'll state to Wazi then. "Like I said... different points of view." She seems uncomfortable about something and takes her plate, cleaning it up to throw away trash in compost or whatever, doing all the recycle bit if Lleu has it available. Hearing Dragomir mention another beer, she'll turn and grabs one, walking over to offer it to him. For some reason, she's not laughing anymore, her good mood is gone. "You can test me, but I'm not -that- stupid. I won't get ya killed..." now she looks a little insulted, someone just insulted her prowess. Who cares about lineage!
Dragomir isn't easy on anyone.. never has been, never will be. That's how Lleutrim got curb-stomped after all. He reaches up to take the beer, and grins a bit when Cait sticks up for herself. He motions for her to keep the beer instead and crosses his thick arms over his own chest and nods his head. A look towards Wazi and he says, "We will need a battle strategy for facing these things.. and we need to know what to expect in the gym as well." He turns to look towards Ryla and says, "It sounds like this place will be well defended. So we need a way in that gets us the advantage." Then he turns to look towards Lleu and says, "We should also find out what spirits if any in the area know information we can use." He points towards Cait and says, "Prove to Puddle Jumper that you can fight... that is good enough for me."
Wazi watches curiously as Cait sighs and stands up, listening to the other Ahroun's answer. The lupus tilts her head a little, watching the woman fetch a beer for the Elder, before giving a slight nod to Dragomir at his words.
"I am testing," she agrees easily, a slight grin returning as she eyes the Cliath. Then she stands up, scooping up the last bit of her steak in one hand and bringing it toward her mouth, heedless of the juices dripping between fingers. "Come to the Caern in the morning. Show you are not stupid, and we will talk, too."
Ah, it's good for Cait to show backbone! Yet still being respectful. Lleu watches the goings on, then tries not to smile. Instead he finishes his meal and sets his own plate on the ground so he may direct his attention to Dragomir. "An excellent suggestion. While we lack a Theurge I can still work on that. We definitely need more information and should go carefully. These people are clearly well organized and we need to be well prepared before we make our move." Yep, Lleu has a bag at the end of the picnic table for trash and another right next to it for recycling. It's been an excellent gathering, a good meal, and useful discussion and planning their next cautious steps.
"If you want, I have a spirit radio you can attune to and listen to the spirits. Everyone can listen who's there... don't need a theurge." Cait says idly. When Dragomir doesn't want the beer, she'll shrug and open it and drink it for herself. Standing there idly, she'll look over towards Wazi and then will nod to her, a smile coming back to her features, she likes brawling, that much is for sure. "Sounds good to me! I'd love to see how you fight, it's good to get a feel..." She'll sip her beer and look over at Lleu then, then Drago, then others, back and forth, she looks at people!!!
Ryla studies them and has finished up her steak and is about to look and see if the files are around so she can get to some work. "I've started learning some rites as well from Wazi, and Bane-Breaker. So whatever I can also do to help on that end, I will." She grins listening to them talk. Already sounding like all part of the group together.
Another slow nod from Wazi as she looks between the four homids, considering each in turn while she chews the last of her steak down. After finishing, she licks her lips and scoops up a handful of baked potato. Seems table manners have been forgotten. She gestures with the potato toward herself. "I will learn to make more things."
Then the potato is stuffed into her mouth and she's chewing again, gaze shifting thoughtfully to Dragomir. After she's swallowed once again, she adds, "I think, this is bigger than what we see. One pack of Wyrm Howlers was killed torturing humans. We found many men with the fomori woman and a pure bred Wyrm Howler at the gym, acting strangely. Then, the fomori woman had three other wyrm things in a club. Two men from the gym attacked Twilight's Glimmer near home. Now these boxes of make up and papers, with guards and guns. Lots of strong warrior banes." A pause there, before she grimaces and finishes, "One question was asked by Shield Brother, when we first found the gym: Are they making a Pit?"
Listening to Wazi in particular, Lleutrim grimaces. "A pit? To force garou to Dance the Spiral?" Ugh. Or does she mean something else? He gets up and starts gathering up things to help with the clean up as well. "A spirit radio should be interesting. We can try it, then go into the preumbra if we can't find out what we need that way. Worth a try." And a good contribution from Cait. As the last of the plates are taken care of, Lleu stops by Ryla, "The files are in the hangar. Welcome to stay as late as you like having a look at them. Faith has to work late."
