A Light In Dark Places A STAR IS BORN: Leetah was born in Sacramento, California in 1963 to Peter and Cheri Lanley and lived a very privileged life because her parents were very successful business people who could be considered rich for the time. When Leetah turned ten she was already singing her little heart out and her parents, seeing great potential for their baby girl, pushed her in that direction all through her teens. She won quite a few awards for her school's Glee Club and performed in the school's Choir and also sang at her Catholic church. She graduated from Bradshaw Christian Academy in 1981 with a nearly perfect GPA and was her class's Valedictorian. At 18 years of age she headed off to San Francisco, California to Skyline College to pursue a degree in Music with a full scholarship. VOICE OF AN ANGEL: By age 20 Leetah was already laying the ground work for her career as a professional singer. The sounds of the 80's were finding their mark on the youth of America with the introduction of great artists such as Madonna, Cindi Lauper and Michael Jackson who was riding on the huge success of his Thriller album in 1982. While these artists were all influential it was not the kind of sound Leetah was producing. She was nearly 20 years ahead of her time with a music sound that was much like Evanescence that would appear on the music scene in 2003. These unique sounds were not yet ready to take ahold so she did such experimental music in private with her band she had formed in the first year of her college life that she labelled as 'Maggie's Miracle'. The band was named after her older sister, Maggie Lanley who was one of the six survivors of Air Florida Flight 90 that smashed into the 14th Street Bridge in Washington DC during it's takeoff on January 13th, 1982. Just one year after the crash, Maggie's Miracle released their first self-published album 'A Light in Dark Places' and it was played widely on public radio and gained the band it's first traction in the industry. Unfortunately for Leetah, it also gathered the attention of Jacob Heart, a vampire for the Toreador vampire clan who found her voice stunning and mesmerizing to behold. THE EMBRACE: In 1984, Leetah and her band had become widely known across San Francisco. Jacob Heart had come on to the scene to support the band monetarily and used his influence to become the band's manager and get close to Leetah. He promised her success beyond her wildest dreams and that her music would live on forever. He invited her to dinner on the night of July 1st, 1984 in a whirlwind date that was lavish and stunning and like a fairy tale story come true. Jacob worked all his charm on her and managed to get her back to his expensive house in the hills. He made love to the young woman and at the height of their encounter he embraced her. Her life ended that night and her unlife began. LIFE OF A VAMPIRE SINGER: She was allowed to continue with her band for another year and dropped out of college to pursue her career of singing full time. She dropped from college more because she was a vampire now and that life would be impossible to continue. She was given the small favor of being allowed to cut one more album with her mortal band entitled 'The Long Goodbye'. It was a masterpiece and got the attention of a major record label but Leetah turned down the deal much to her band's utter disbelief. This created a huge rift on the relationship with her bandmates but it was necessary to pull Leetah away from her mortal friends and deeper into the vampire masquerade. She officially left Maggie's Miracle in the late summer of 1985 and cut off communication with her family and moved to Prospect with her sire, Jacob Heart to start a new life there. She was presented to the Price of the city and made to sing to prove she was truly worthy of being immortalized. She passed the test with flying colors and impressed many at her presenting. To this day she performs at many clubs around the city and caters to vampire and mortal alike but her status as undead prevents her from truly pushing forward into a global spotlight. That dream is as dead as she is and while she likes performing still she feels imprisoned because of what she is and as a result she can become quite resentful of vampires and vampire culture from time to time until her sire gives her an attitude adjustment.
