- Mastema's name is noted in the Book of Jubilees. He is remembered as the Angel of Destruction, as well as a tempter and tester of mankind.
- Mastema's hosts are all flawed in that their irises take on an unnatural silver hue. He disguises this as best as he can.
- It is Mastema's belief that Creation can be saved by the children of man, and so he has a habit of making pacts and thralls to create human warriors against the forces of the unholy.
- Mastema hopes to one day find a particular mortal thrall who can become his Magus, his supreme thrall whose hymn will touch even the ears of God, calling him back to creation.
- Hiroshi Hatake, Mastema's host, was a hunter in life. It's because of this that Mastema tends to continue that work in his host's guise, though he has taken on a particular habit of targeting high-Torment demons and vampires - the two blights upon Creation he finds most unholy.
