Shiloh Everhart was just another small town girl who grew up in Buford, Nebraska, with aspirations of following in the family tradition and joining the marines. She did exceptionally well in training, and although she thought she was going to be assigned to one of the newly gender-integrated combat units, she was recruited into the Void Engineer's Border Patrol Division instead.

Space is boring, and there seems to be a glass ceiling between regular grunts like her, and those who supposedly have the 'right stuff'. She was restless and unhappy even before she began to show signs of Void Adaptation.
