They are transported into the Umbra for a bit. The journey is almost psychadellic with various flashes of landscapes and colors darting in and out of their perception. The landscapes are all flashes of places they would have considered home at some point individually, not that anyone would know and not that the flashes are much longer than a second or so...but finally...finally, they arrive in a calm, peaceful glade in the umbra /somewhere/. Black Unicorn itself is standing there, looking much like Slepinir, having 8 legs instead of 4. Perhaps this is some of that perception shaping reality that the umbra does with the Get around. It is a tall war stallion with a jet-black coat of horse hair, deep black eyes, and of course, the horn of a unicorn (also black). It whinnies and neighs and speaks to all of us at once.
Black Unicorn states into their heads: //So you wish to follow me into fate? If you can pass this test, I will accept you as my children.//
With that, they are all wooooshed away into the middle of Prospect City. A ringing of Black Unicorn's voice can be heard...//Protect the innocent.// They are in front of a spanish mercado, a grocery market, at the bottom of a 4 story building, with fire escapes leading downwards into the basement...and women being escorted with handcuffs through the market doors.

"Yes....we wish to protect the innoecnt, to honor you to help the world." Rats nods slowly as he watches the scene, with look at the image. He is not moving now his eyes locked on it trying to judge, his teeth biting his lip roughly.

Rafe shifts to glabro form after they move to the umbra. A more capable form if called for it. He takes a knee and bows his head to Black Unicorn. "Yes. Keep safe. WHen they get transported again, he moves in clser to Jae and his eyes scan around. At EVERYTHING, looking for posible dangers or usable resources. "Wonder, girl innocent?"

Stephen listens to the spirit's instructions and nods, mostly to himself, and just waits for the path to get laid out in front of them. Which, well, whooshing it is, they don't have to wait much for. He takes a moment to settle into his surroundings and clue in as to where they are and what is going on. His first thought is towards those being led away, grunting under his breath, "Arrested? I.C.E.? Someone who knows Spanish ask a bystander what happened?"

Elowyn looks around but observes the situation. Pursing her lips a bit she seems to think before listening to the others.

"I do not think we would be here if they were not innocent in one way ro another." Jae-Eun points out to Rafe. "It could be human t--, um. Bad people buying and selling the girls for sex. Or worse." This time? There's no blush, just a sad tinge to a hard edge as she studies the layout. "Elowyn and I could hold there, at the fire escape, to keep them from bolting?" she suggests.

As they are dropped back into the real world, Magnus grunts. Luckily, the smearing required hands and all of them are now in homid or Glabro. Otherwise this would have gotten really awkward really fast. Once they are grounded back in the real world, Magnus shrugs and looks out at the girl being 'escorted'. "Let's watch?"

The man who has her doesn't look like a federal agent. He has a blue bandana on over his head and a pistol in his hand (with another in his waist-band. No, these are definitely /not/ federal agents. They enter the mercado with the girl, whom looks to be in her late teens/early twenties and is moving somewhat lazily, almost as if she is drunk or drugged. There is an unmarked van and a driver inside the van just in front of the market, but as soon as the girl enters the mercado, it pulls off in a hurry. The door to the mercado swings shut and looks to be locked by the man with the blue bandana.

Magnus looks to Elowyn and Jae-Eun, "Would ye both be okay with that? The rest of us kin split up, maybe two go in and up, te others go down te escape and then in and down?"

"I can act like a drink gringo, try and get close." Rats nods slowly as he watches it all with a little chuckle, as he looks at the others."I can pretend to be super fucked up, and then sumble around make them watch me, and then well we will get a better idea of who he is."

Elowyn looks to Jae, giving her a nod as she hears that. "I agree...." Looking to the others she nods then. "I'm okay with that yeah. No complaints here...."


 

Stephen frowns a little more at the discussion and murmurs, "No good. Black Unicorn would not frown on quiet observation from shadows, like a good predator, but he would fail us for lying about who or what we are. I can get close and try to find another way in? Ideas?" while idly running a hand around a bracelet that dangles around his neck.

"I can.." Rafe trails off. Not so good at plans unless omeone else comes up with them. ANd let's face it. He's good at being a battering ram or a wrecking ball. Not much else. "..fight man. Help girl." He scratches at the side of his head and look towards the others for guidance.

Rats is moving up slowly now staying low to the ground, as he is part of the shadows not to attack, oh not going to break the ban on day one, that would be special ed. But then he is moving towards the man and the woman, as he looks it over trying to get a count of how many badies and douchbags there are, anyone hidden around as he moves into the building.

Magnus listens to Ratsputin and then Stephen and nods, "Nae, Black Unicorn does nae like deceipt or trickery. Iffn ye want to go see what they are doing inside, go, but no ambushing," he calls out as Rats goes invisible. To Rafe, he puts a hand to his temple, "Aye, ye and Stephen go down...Ratsputin and I will go in and up. Iffn ye see someone, announce that we are...well, we are here to stop te bad guys." 

Inside the man and the girl have disappeared, most likely gone to the bag of the store. It isn't that large inside and consists of the usual food fare. No one is immediately visible, but as you get closer, there is a man sweeping the floor back by the stairwell. He is sweeping the same spot of the floor over and over in front of the stairwell and looks to be about 300lb of solid muscle. He screams goon as he also wears a blue bandana. Magnus follows slowly and calls to the others, "Stay safe, be open about our intentions to be te good guys and save te day, and...din get killed." The fire escape is devoid of lights and has no visible baddies. 

As the pack starts to form a plan, they hear Black Unicorn speak into their minds, //For fairness, no Crinos, Hispo, or Lupus tonight...and for those in Glabro, no claws or fangs...just brute force and sheer skill tonight. Weapons are permitted if used against you.//

Ratsputin stops now watching the big man and then he looks over at the others behind him, slowly testing out the totem pushing his words out to them, as he looks around taking it in, and then he waits for his next order. His eyes on the day leading to the back of the store, and then he starts to count down slowly, as if he is worried.
Stephen continues frowning as directions are given, but grunts and nods once at Magnus, eyeing Rafe before shoulder-checking the Ahroun and grunting, "Lessgo." With that said, the Theurge seems ready to head off in search of the women they saw being led off. (how many women were there?)

<Baldur's Blade> Magnus says, "Aye, to te back. Okay, this is super weird. Kin everyone hear me...kinfolk included? (will page this to Elowyn too since she doesn't have the pack chan for whatever reason yet...ugh)."

Jae-Eun moves to Elowyn and gently nudged the woman, moving to go and stand near the fire escape, sword drawn and not even trying to be casual. "This ought to be a good place for us. Out of immediate harm, but guarding an exit that is likely to be taken."

Elowyn smiles as she moves to follow after Jae. Pushing a stray hair out of her face she's takes a deep breath. "Sounds good to me. I'll just be ready to slam into someone."

"No fange. No claws." Repeats Rafe after the spirit's instructions. He nods at Magnus and looks at the fire escape. It's going to be a squeeze but his massive naked form should draw less attention there. At leasts it's night outside. He gives Stephen an elbow and grins widely before heading off towards the fire escape. He blinks and looks around.
<Baldur's Blade> Rafe says, "I can hear you in my head."
<Baldur's Blade> Ratsputin says, "One big big big dude in lobby."
<Baldur's Blade> Jae-Eun says, "They found someone for Rafe to play with!"


Magnus grunts as they all can hear eachother. That will get awkward fast, but at the same time, it feels damn good to have a family. As Magnus follow's Ratsputin's directions and heads to the back, he gets close enough and calls out, "Hey...ugly...iffn ye din wanna fight, I suggest ye leave now. Iffn ye wanna fight, then, tonight is yer lucky night. Tell te others that are here too that their blood is about to be shed and their heads are about to be knocked together." With that, Magnus moves forward into combat and says, "Let's go Ratsputin...let him know we're here." The big guy looks startled but fumbles for his walky-talky and calls out, "Uuhh, warning...uhh...fuck...code orange or some shit like that." 
As the walky call goes out, the lights in the basement turn on at once and four men start moving into view from the fire escapes below street level. Footsteps can also be heard inside running up the stairs behind the Rafe wannabe.

And then there's Johnny 5-0 slowly walking down the street a few blocks from the mercado.


The sound of a rage coming out of Rats throat as he starts to get ready for the battle, his blood pounding, the rage is coming out of him. In a flurry of blows he is rushed towards the large man with a wicked little chuckle, this is going to be fun. The bigger the more work and he loves a good work out, with that he is off towards battle with a scream of pure joy. This is one pissed off Ragbash that enjoys a good blood letting.

Glabor-Rafe, which looks pretty much the same one half a foot bigger, more heavily laden in muscle and harrier. He ambles over tot he fire escape and looks at it. Eyeing it then he looks at himself. If only he had a gallon of lard to cover himself with. It's going to be a squeeze. The door man send out the alarm while he's trying to figure out how to go about it and it spares him the effort. Hands are balled up into ham sized fists and he charges into the nearest enemy with a growl. All his glory on display as he does. No elegance in it. It's pure savage brutality. His shoulder is lowered and he hits the man like a train, smashing into a wall and following it up with a series of punches to drop him. THe moment ons is doen, he turns and makes his way for the next.

Heading downstairs with the Ahroun, the sight of a few people coming out to greet them doesn't seem to slow Stephen down either. Instead the big glabor just cocks back a fist and growls, "You like to scare people?" before stepping in and swinging while Rafe charges. Between Rafe and Stephen, there quite a few crunches, some disgustingly wet sounds that sound a lot like body parts being shoved through other body parts that were not intended to accept such penetration, maybe even a panicked gunshot or two, and a soft 'Fuck you!' thrown in for good measure, though it might not be clear who's mouth that came out of. Maybe Stephen's. There's blood. Quite a bit of blood. And neither of them look like they mind WHOSE blood it is.

Xavier moved in with Rafe and Stphen figuring it would be good to have three outside and three inside, he's a bit behind both Rafe and Stephen keeping a sharp eye out wanting to make sure nothing or no one comes up behind them.

Ratsputin and Magnus are going after the big ugly at the stairwell inside the Mercado. Rafe, Stephen, and Xavier are headed into the fire escape and are taking out baddies as they come in. A cop is on his way over (probably now drawn by the gunshots). Baddies are also headed upstairs. Jae and Elowyn are outside the fire escape but can move to intercept the cop to ask for help or knock him out or whatever they want to do.

Elowyn is well...Elowyn. She's going to be moving fast to intercept that cop. Huffing as she makes her way but not before mussing her hair, teasing her shirt. "Officer!" Taking a deep breath she tries to catch it. "Officer!" Yes...she trying to draw him away back to his car.

Magnus and Ratsputin are moving in sync due to the new mental link and pummel the big guy together. He doesn't even stand a chance to make it to his guns or to use the broom handle. The man folds like a stick in no time and is down and out. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. The Alpha shoots out into the stairs and catches two others headed up. He follows after them with a mental, //Ratsputin, with me.// As they move up the stairs, some others slip out into the lobby, see the big guy, and start heading out the door towards where Jae and Elowyn were.
 
Elowyn, for her part, manages to catch the cop, who although confused by the pops up the street, is delighted that Elowyn is interested in him for any reason. "Good evening young lady, how can I help you?" he drawls, from the South most likely. He is ushered back towards is car subconsciously as she moves with him.

Rafe and Stephen and Xavier take out the initial onlookers and start to head further into the building. From the stairwell inside, they can hear Magnus and Ratsputin heading up the stairs. From below they start to hear the sound of bullets ripping through the stairwell.

Elowyn pants as she points down the street. "Some hooligan too off with my purse...." Pushing her hair out of her face as she groans a bit. "He snatched it right off."

Ratsputin comes up the stairs quickly the sound of a shotgun is heard, and he is staggers back dodging the blast except for a little bit, with a roar of rage and hate he plunges forward with a little chuckle, as he starts to leap into the air. His eyes on the man with the gun smaller man that is shocked that he is still coming, as he a kick lands square into the chest with a solid crack of bone and blood, as he grins down at the body.

Remorseless and becasue it wasn't restricted bu the spirit. Rafe grabs tha body of a good to carry in front him as a bullet catcher when the gun shots start. As quickly as he can, his size and the 'shield' making it a little slower, he rushes along the stairs, following the sounds. THe body is held up until he's close enough and the corpse is thrown at a gunman. He quickly follows the man-missile, setting upon the unbalanced gunman. Kicking a leg out from under him and stomping the man into the hereafter.


Stephen seems perfectly agreeable to following Rafe's charge in and down the stairs, whether or not he's actually taking any hits from stray bullets in the process, who the hell knows. But considering the goo that Rafe is already stomping the gunman into, the Theurge is trying to shoulder his way in further looking for signs of the girl that was taken in...or gods help anyone else he finds with a weapon.


Xavier is quiet and his foot falls go silent. Moving down the stairs Xavier is silent and he moves past Rafe and Stephen looking to see if he can find anyone guard the people that were kidnapped.

The officer catches sight of someone in drag walking with a purse and immediately goes running after the man. Whoops, wrong place, wrong time, sorry guy! The guy sees the cop and takes off in high-heels and is actually fairly fast in them. They go running. As Elowyn comes back towards the fire escape where Jae remains on guard, two guys come out from the main market, having gotten past Magnus and Ratsputin as they headed up the stairs. Upstairs are two more hoodlums with more pistols guarding a make-shift armory...it is basically a room with guns and money in it. Rafe and Stephen manage to break through the ranks and help Xavier sneak into a room full of cells with women locked inside. It seems like they've cleared out the goons that were holding the women hostage. They don't even look up as Xavier comes in as he is super stealthy.

Rats is charges forward with another rage shout at them, grabbing one of them throwing him into the other, and then he runs along the wall coming down with a elbow of doom aimed at both necks with a loud crack sound, as he then looks at the money with a sneer, as he takes out his machette now to start to make his way towards one of them that is still breathing, that would soon be over.

Elowyn blinks and then mutters when the cop takes off. "....well shit...." Seems she's been around Rats way too long already. Turning to make her way back, she tries to make sure to get to Jae but sees those other guys. Squinting she then calls to them. "Hey idiots!" Well then....someone should hear that or she's gonna have to attempt to punch someone.

Rafe looks over the cells and grabs one of the doors. Shake. Shakeshakeshake. Probably scaring the girl in it. Keep safe. He lets the less frightening ones handle the girls. Clothes are torn from the guards and wrapped around his waist to make a...well it's basically a mini skirt.

<Baldur's Blade> Rafe says, "Found captured girls in cages. Guarding the way in while they are set free."

Stephen catches sight of the cells and growls under his breath, "Fucking animals." He shoots a glance at Rafe, shrugs, and grunts, "Let em stare." If no key is immediately available and Xavier has no other ideas, brute strength will have to suffice to break the cells open, because he intends to break them open in such a way that they aren't going to be relockable, telling the girls to go, while trying to get at least one to stop and tell him who did this so they know who to hunt down and put a stop to later.

<Baldur's Blade> Elowyn says, "Two just run out and heading towards me."
<Baldur's Blade> Ratsputin says, "Get them my love."

Moving silently, the Ragabash also known as the assassin, though that doesn't go for Xavier, as a Child of Gaia, he would not kill this man, but he will drop him viciously. Throwing an elbow strike across the top of his head, a loud thud and the collapsing of the man. Crouching down, Xavier takes the keys from him and he begins moving to the cages where the women are and he begins getting them out.

Magnus looks over the cash as Ratsputin takes care of the others. With the adrenaline pumping, he barely feels the slight bruises he took from the big guy down stairs, even without resisting pain. He looks at the guns and money and shakes his head. "Blood money. Let's let it burn." He finds what he is looking for in the armory...a phone. In response to Rafe, he says, //Get them out iffn ye kin...calling the police. We have time only to run from te cabin to te Caern and then they'll be here.// Explaining time to a lupus. He dials 911, but leaves the phone off the receiver and heads downstairs to help the girls and the rest of his pack get out.
Of the two that pass by Jae and Elowyn, one runs while the other is distracted by Elowyn and is taken out by Jae. The runner is out and gone, free to be hunted another day.
Luckily some of the cells are old and rusty. and don't take too much brute force to open. Still, Xavier finds the key and the rest of them are freed and guided upstairs and out to safety.
The first sounds of sirens can be heard as the pack manages to head back out into the night. They slip quietly away as the freed women are either brought into police custody or run off to try and make it on their own in the city.
